Celebrate Diane Schooley-Pettis' Retirement

The Diane Schooley-Pettis Business Scholarship was established by Diane and Wes in 2004. The scholarship supports high-achieving business students who express financial need. To date, the fund has supported numerous students as they have pursued degrees in the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University.

Diane Schooley-Pettis, an associate dean and professor in the College of Business and Economics, has served students at Boise State for over 33 years. She began her career at the college as an assistant professor of finance in 1989 and was made professor in 2000. In January 1999, Schooley-Pettis was selected to be an associate dean for the college and is now the university’s longest-serving associate dean with 23 years in her role. She also served for over 1 year as the college’s interim dean.

Throughout her time in the College of Business and Economics, Schooley-Pettis has worked alongside five deans, providing crucial continuity during transitions between leadership. Her work has also been essential in maintaining the college’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation – the international gold standard of accreditation for business schools.

She is the only female faculty member of finance to serve in the college, the college’s second female associate dean and its only female dean, inspiring female faculty members and students to advance in their professions and overcome gender barriers in their lives and careers. She has an extensive record of research and teaching awards, as well as a tremendous history of service across campus.

“I am thankful for a meaningful and rewarding career at Boise State,” she said. “There is nothing better than helping people improve their lives through education. I cherish my friends here and appreciate the people who have supported me. As I reframe my life, I look forward to finding new ways to make a difference.”
