What is PhysCon?
PhysCon, also known as the Quadrennial Physics Congress, is a convention of sorts held once every four years. This year it will be held in Silicon Valley, California. This Congress features many things, one of which is world renowned scientists giving speeches on topics such as gravity waves, supersymmetry, and Bose-Einstein condensates. There will also be the opportunity to attend either Google X (Google's experimental project laboratory where they test the bounds of technology), NASA-Ames Research Laboratory, or the SLAC Particle Accelerator Laboratory (a research laboratory for the Department of Energy). We will also be having "Breakfast with the Scientists" to talk to professional scientists over breakfast about anything imaginable. This congress focuses on cultivating interest in science fields, facilitating a location for networking with people from all over the country, and unifying different science fields together.
What would attending PhysCon mean to us?
A common thread for each of us is "opportunity". The opportunity to go to NASA, Google X, or the SLAC Lab. The opportunity to network with graduate schools conducting research. The opportunity to meet like-minded people from all over the US with a passion for science. PhysCon, because it only happens once every four years, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is held specifically for undergraduates, so unless we become the scientist speaking, this is our one shot.
How can you help?
Donate! Share with your friends and family while making a donation will make a huge difference! Even if you can only donate a few dollars, we thank you so much for being willing to give us this opportunity. If you can donate a lot, then great! We thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts and with the joy in our smiles!
This event only happens every four years! The fifth year, we miss out!
