Boise is No. 5! And we’re part of the success story. A recent article in Inc. highlighted Boise as a hotbed for new entrepreneurs, and ranked the city as No. 5 on its list of Surge Cities, a ranking of the best American cities to start a business. There is no better place to give students a real life educational opportunity than where it’s happening, and it is happening in a BIG way!

The BSU College of Business & Economics (COBE) Funding Accelerator, powered by, delivers a venture accelerator service to innovative Idaho entrepreneurs. This opportunity provides them a much higher probability of success that helps them to grow their businesses here in Idaho.

A cornerstone of the COBE Funding Accelerator is the internship experience. Rich in opportunity, the experience provides student interns, also known as Investor Liaisons or ILs, a practical understanding of how a business strategically aligns their value proposition to attract investment capital as well as a broad network of contacts from within our mentor program, many of whom may be potential employers or significant references.

We seek your investment in COBE Funding Accelerator Investor Liaisons as they journey alongside startup companies to START, FIND MONEY, CHANGE THE WORLD.

START. Everyone needs to start somewhere, and for COBE Funding Accelerator’s ILs that starting block is understanding a new company’s value proposition. A first step for ILs is to evaluate startups who are beginning the long road toward funding success, looking at their business model, products or services, marketing strategies, management team and financials. This initiation to the startup world is followed by participating on mentor teams, where ILs work hand-in-hand with experienced investors and startup CEOs to develop and hone their investment pitches.

FIND MONEY. At some point all new companies need to find money, and the same can be said for COBE Funding Accelerator ILs. Just as many new companies first fund their endeavors, our ILs are learning the art of crowdfunding to raise money for a trip of their lifetime to the 36th Investor Choice Conference in Salt Lake City, the longest running venture capital conference in the country. More than 20-30 entrepreneurs from high-tech/high growth industries present their business opportunities to several hundred local, regional and national investorsThe Conference is the premier event to meet and collaborate with the biggest group of investors in the intermountain region, and our ILs have the opportunity to connect with potential mentors and employers. Furthermore, over the past 3 years, the presenting companies have raised more than $300 million, and our ILs have been an integral part of their success to create new wealth, good jobs and an expanded tax base in Boise and Idaho.

CHANGE THE WORLD. We aim to improve the world through technological entrepreneurship. That’s a lofty goal and our ILs are taking strides to continually achieve this goal with their participation in the COBE Funding Accelerator program. Upon completing the internship, our ILs have a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and the efforts put forth by entrepreneurs to improve our economy through wealth and job creation--they are better prepared to improve the lives of their neighbors, their community, and their world through entrepreneurship.
