Planting Seeds for Tomorrow

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." - Audrey Hepburn

Campus Operations’ mission is to provide a constructive, memorable and safe environment where students can pursue their educational goals. BroncosGrow, a campus garden system, can enhance the environment and education opportunities. In 2017, the BroncoFit Food Symposium, students, staff, and community members identified food security as the top priority for food culture at Boise State. In addition to the food pantry on campus, we believe a strong garden program will not only show empathy for students by helping address immediate food security concerns but help students and staff gain skills and build resiliency. This garden program will build imputed quality by demonstrating our commitment to collaboration, sustainability, and student’s lifelong health and education.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" - Helen Keller

A campus garden has been approved, the curriculum has been developed, the land has been designated. The BroncosGrow team is passionate about seeing this program through. However, to start the campus garden class, the garden needs to break ground. So together we can raise enough money to get the campus garden class in motion. By surrounding ourselves with others working towards a similar goal or objective, we get motivation, support, we build friendships/ partnerships, and we can accomplish outstanding things.

Let us have a garden party. Lettuce turnip the beet.

Community gardens can improve mental health through social connectedness, mutual trust, and social support.   Involvement in a community garden increases fruit and vegetable intake.

Students who eat more fruits and vegetables have higher grade point averages. This is a cause that students and staff believe in. Please join us and over 100 students and staff from a variety of departments, including Art, Advancement, Biology, Dean of Students, Educational Access Center, Engineering, FOAM, Housing and Residence Life, Political Science, Service Learning, Social Work, and the Small Business Development Center, Children’s Center, in supporting a campus garden program, helping us fulfill Boise State’s commitment to the success and well being of its students and staff. Building a campus garden today will have everlasting benefits for tomorrow.
