What is Baja Racing Club?
The Boise State Baja Racing Club is a unique experience open to all Engineering Majors. Our goal is to design and build, from the ground up, an all terrain vehicle to compete in the yearly regional competition hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers. This year the competition will be held in Gorman, California on May 16th-19th. We are happy to announce our successful registration in this competition as of the 2nd of October! The events teams participate in while attending the competition include dynamic events such as the hill climb, events to test every aspect of the vehicle: acceleration, suspension and maneuverability, as well events gauge the engineering process such as the cost event and the pitch event.
As a club we hope to compete, but also foster learning and bolster confidence along the way. Students involved in this club will be presented with a challenging, real- life design project and asked to make something of it. Along the way, they will gain skills such as working within a design team to create and implement new ideas, overcome design challenges with unique solutions, and the technical skills to build a proficient ATV for competition. This clubs presents the only automotive design opportunity currently supported through Boise State, and an excellent opportunity to make connections and further careers for many students interested in this industry.
How can you help?
By donating to Boise State Baja Racing Club you’ll allow us to purchase the materials we need to fabricate our ATV. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of material that goes into constructing a car. All the funding we receive through this campaign will go straight to the materials used to build the car. Every bolt, chassis member, and tire will be provided through your generosity. We thank you in advance for your kind and generous support of our mission to improve engineering student’s education at Boise State University.
Will help cover the cost for tubing and raw materials that will be used to construct the chassis
Will help provide steering components, master cylinder, rotors and calipers, petal package, rack and pinion, etc.
Will provide funding for shock absorbers, bearings, bushings, wheels and tires
