Support the Marcellus Brown Band Scholarship
Marcellus Brown, Director of Bands, retired in the Spring of 2023 after a successful career that includes 33 years of excellence at Boise State University. As Director of Bands, Mr. Brown conducted the University Symphonic Winds and the Treasure Valley Concert Band. He taught instrumental conducting and served as the Director of the Boise State University Summer Chamber Music Camp. He also served as the Professor of Trumpet for just over 20 years at Boise State University.
Professor Brown has done extensive work as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator, and has served on the boards of the top professional band associations in the United States. His work and dedication as an arts educator have been recognized widely both on campus and nationally. His ensembles have also received multiple performance recognitions which include invitations to perform at the College Band Directors National Association National Conference and the American Bandmasters Association National Conference.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Brown holds a Master of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Michigan. He has done doctoral work at the University of Illinois.
